WPJobBoard 4.2 (Frontend Templates Redesigned)
New WPJobBoard version was just released. The main change you will notice in the new update are completely refreshed frontend templates (the source code for old ones was almost 4 years old now). How does the WPJB look with new templates you can check on the demo site. Aside of the templates update the new release has also only multiple bug fixes (reported and/or found by QA team).
This is a first step in frontend improvments and you can expect soon more changes that will make WPJB more user friendly and intuitive.
Important Note. Before updating make sure that you are not using WPJobBoard child templates (that is you do not have any files in wp-content/themes/your-theme/wpjobboard directory). If you do then the child templates might not be fully compatible with new update, there are two ways you can solve this issue:
- Inspect the new template files and update your child templates accordingly, this is recommended method although might require some PHP/HTML knowledge.
- Download and install on your site wpjobboard-old-theme plugin, it will downgrade your template files to version 4.1.4, so basically your templates will not change, but you will be running latest WPJB version. This is easier to do, but the old theme will not be developed further, so you will need to upgrade template files (use the first method) in future anyway.
How do i know if i am using child templates? As a rule of a thumb, if you do not know what are child templates and we did NOT made a customization for you, then there is 99% chance that your site is not using child templates and you can upgrade with ease.
The full modified files list in WPJobBoard and Jobeleon you can download here
when will the update come out that will allow us to use child themes again? As this is normal practice these days.
The update actually allows to use child templates, what i meant is you should check after update if the child templates are displaying correctly or as you want them since the CSS file was rewritten.
Hi guys do we know if this update is compatible with WordPrss 4.0? I went to install the update this morning – it says it hasn’t been tested but as it’s the latest release, I’d image it has been but just wanted to check.
Hi, yes WPJB 4.2 is compatible with WordPress 4.0, we are always testing new releases with latest WP versions, although it will not hurt to do a full site backup before the update.
Hi Greg, WPJobBoard is a ridiculously nice plugin, already recommended to several clients 🙂
Thanks!
Is it possible for candidate and client to send them forgotten password?!
I feel terrible when understand that this functionality is missing..
zend.ninja, this functionality is not missing, WPJB reverts to default WP password reset. When user tries to login with incorrect password he is shown “Lost your password?” link which he can use to reset his password.
Users log in and its like they’re admins with their controls the word press controls show up on the top and the left
If you want to disable the top bar, you can do this using third party plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/global-admin-bar-hide-or-remove/
How about having a dropbox or google drive feature which allows people to apply for jobs using this feature.
Hmm, i am not familiar with Dropbox nor Google Drive API so can’t tell if it will be doable but i will check this in near future.
